86│ my apologies, it has been too long, and thus here we go again (early spring poem)
It could be that we are hatched as a vulnerable flyer,
and that is how we return.
Let us say in this case, if you’ll forgive me, a robin.
We are hatched again by that robin,
the progression releases anew,
and we flutter back
as we ought and need
to our sanctuary
of dried-up mud and refuse—
dead grass and twigs.
Yes! And from a perfectly blue elliptical sphere
we have cracked,
remembering:
We were nourished almost solely
on worms.
